Instagram was launched in 2010, but was eventually bought by Facebook, who still reigns supreme in the social world with 200 million active users.
Twitter is attempting to stay relevant as their team works to create a multiple photo/video upload option to the mobile app, which accounts for about 75 percent of users. Mobile usage is up across social channels and continues to rise as the digital world evolves.
The growth of Instagram also reinforces the predictions made at the beginning of 2014, which included a more visual-minded audience in the social media world. Photos and micro-videos are booming while text-only posts are only mildly, if at all, effective.
